I chose to listen to "i" by Kendrick Lamar for this weeks listening blog. Lyrically this is such a powerful song. The first time hearing this song, I thought this was just a song about loving yourself. Which I really like songs that take this form. I think that it is important today more than ever with social media and fashion being projected so much more. However, the second time I listened to this song and after I looked up more about this song, it is so much more than just self love. The part of the song I thought was most powerful is towards the end, it sounds like a fight is happening in the back ground. Lamar continues to rap ignoring the fight he then finishes this song with an a capella verse.
Hi Elley! I love that you chose to listen to this song for this week's listening blog. I love this song since it has such an influential message. I love how you used the word "powerful" in your description of it. I think that is a great way to describe the song all together.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog post. Before this blog I had never listened to this song so I went and listened it and l liked it. It seems to be a very happy and upbeat song. I did like the lyrics "i love myself". I agree it is important to have positive songs with all the negative things in social media.
